Tenor
Thomas is a Dramatic operatic tenor, holding a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Opera) from
WAAPA and a Master of Music (Opera) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. A
distinguished recipient of prestigious awards – including the Royal York Trust Scholarship
(UK), Dame Joan Sutherland AOAC Award, and Lady Fairfax New York Opera Scholarship – he
established himself as a rising star.
As a Principal Artist with Opera Australia, Thomas has performed in Great Opera Hits at the
Sydney Opera House and covered leading roles such as Cavaradossi (Tosca), Radames (Aida),
Manrico (Il Trovatore), Don Jose (Carmen) and Calaf (Turandot). Notably, he understudied
Jonas Kaufmann as Lohengrin at Melbourne Arts Centre. His diverse repertoire includes
Rodolfo (La Bohème), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Florestan (Fidelio – concert), and
Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos – concert), alongside character roles like Doctor Falke (Die
Fledermaus) and Enjolras (Les Misérables). He made his Lead debut for Opera Australia as
Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at Sydney Opera House which was met by great critiques for
his powerful stage presence and vocal artistry.
With a dynamic stage presence and vocal versatility, Thomas has collaborated with
renowned artists from around the world. Eager to take his career to the next level, he now
sets his sights on European opera houses, where he aims to showcase his dramatic intensity and lyrical prowess on the world’s most celebrated stages.
